Overclocking
Continuing a run of annoying PC questions...
Almost certainyl buying an XFX 7600GT graphics card for the new PC. Now, these things come in about 4 flavours of factory overclockedness, each more expensive than the last. Just wondered what the merit is of factory clocking over home clocking (apart from the warranty). it's all a lot easier and better than when I last overclocked a PC component (hopping up a P75 to a staggering indicated 120mhz) :) |

I actually overclocked an 800 Duron to think it was a 1500 worked great until I tried to push it to 2000, then the thing caught fire. its all about cooling and how much heat the extra speed is gonna cause.

Supposedly the 7600s make very little heat... I saw a feature where they managed to get one to run stable with just a plain heatsink. Not oerclocked, though.
My account at Overclockers UK's forum's finally been activated, so hopefully I'll be able to get a conclusive answer from there- but thanks for the help guys. |
