TV Recpeption
In vernas new place, she cant get a decent picture on her TV. I have tried a 50db gain, amplified ariel, anmongst other amplifiers etc but with no success. Its a rented property so whacking a huge outsdie ariel is a no go, nor a loft ariel as there would be no way to get the cable into her room.
So i need either some ideas please. She live in Sanderstead in surrey |
Ditch the TV and move in with her!
|
Lol, I used to live there! Yeah the reception is naff. Have you got a digi box?
|
Have you checked where the nearest transmitter is? Somtimes there are two nearby but due to LOS (Line of Sight) etc... you are better off using the other one.
Have a look here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/trans...ns/index.shtml http://tx.mb21.co.uk/ |
Id say ditch the TV and go down the pub, except Sanderstead is Quakerville and there are no pubs to go to unless you head to Purley or Warlingham or Croydon.
I would guess the problem is the hills there. In which case bugger all you can really do without putting up an outside aerial. :( |
TSM, that was going to be my next challenge. Crystal Palace is the most powerful, but i have noticed that there are a couple of more local transmitters. Verna live on the top of sanderstead, so i would have thought not a problem.
Lyn, going down the pub costs money, and watching TV doesnt. Just annoying that if you do want to watch something, you cant! |
The other thing is get a sky box installed on freeview (abt £100 or less if you are a dab hand like me at installing sky) and you will get all the free digital chanels.

I had this problem in a flat i used to live in. I never managed to solve it, i got a powerful amplified ariel and a freeview box and I could just about get BBC1 but that was it, i just used to watch alot of DVD's.

If you are realy desperate, i have seen people put the dish on a stand near a window.
Its going a bit far though. The otherthing is that if you can get HomeChoice, its a broadband system so all you need is a BT telephone line. |
