Schuberth S1
hi
looking for a new helmet, narrowed it down (pre-trying on) to a Schuberth S1 or an Arai Astro-R i particularly like the design of the arai, but the schuberth is saying "practical" to me who here has either of these? recommendationa anyone? |
I have an Astro R but am seriously considering a Schuberth for long distance work. The Astro R is a great lid, but the S1 has a reputation for being very quiet and very comfortable, and that sun visor is cool too....

I like the idea of a quiet helmet :)
http://www.schuberth.com/s1/index3.htm I love drop-down shades...stops all the faffing around changing visors! I'm impressed with the one in my Caberg, but I'm not liking it's flip front  You definately seem to get more for your money with the Schuberth than the Arai :P |
Schuberth
I got an S1. Best lid in the world in my view, I don't understand why it's not more popular. So quiet and comfortable, with a visor so good you always think you forgot to close it. And that sun visor is just the business. Couldn't think about living without it now. Why don't all helmet have it? Pricey helmet, but worth it.

thanks for the advice
i wear glasses - would the sun-visor in the Schuberth interfere with them? |

I've got the Schuberth Concept at the mo, which has the same internal sun visor - my next lid will be an S1 The only problem I have found with it is that if you've been riding along and it's been raining/showering, when the sun comes out & you pop the sun visor down, it can sometimes be steamed up with condensation  . I've had one or 2 'clucking bell' moments with this. |
in the end i bought an Arai Condor, the fit was perfect and very reasonably priced..
