Leaving the bike in Stansted Airport parking... 8 days, ok!

No probs!!!

I went to France on holidays for 8 days and left the bike in the short period parking (is called something else, but I cannot remember)

No probs at all.... but the cold sweat was running the back of my neck when walking back to the parking!!! 8 days could be taking the **** a little.

And no.. no way to ride there, I was going to the Alps and didn't want to risk being trapped by the snow/ice in the mountains or have to leave the bike because I had something broke. Would not be fun to have to leave it there for two months!!!

What a pleasure to ride back home... 8 days and you start forgetting how nice is to ride the SV (or anything bigger than a hair dryer I guess).

anyway... it looks pretty safe, some bikes were the same, so I guess that you can even leave it for longer...

How did you get your skis on the bike?

I take it that its your only form of transport?

argatxa 11-04-06 01:59 PM

yep.... and I don't want other.... if I need a car/van I hire it for the weekend and done.

no skis, snowboard hired on the resort. But going with a massive bag on my back proved dangerous, the wind was shaking me quite harshly....

I've left my bike there for upto 3 days before, shame its not covered but at least its right next to the terminal, its overlooked by numerous security cameras but I don't think its particularly secure, I always worry my bike won't be there when I return..

Would be nice if they stuck a few ground anchors in

Just get a cab/bus/train/lift! You strange people :?

maaannn...... time going home to standsted by bike... 30 minutes flat. Going by bus/train the time goes up to 90 minutes if no waiting for the bus/train is involved.

besides.... there is nothing like arriving, unchain, hop on and go...

I'm with you hombre.

I went on a business trip to Germany last summer and arrived back on the Friday evening. I loved the fact i could just hop on my bike and go.

The best bit was i was convinced we had landed in the wrong country. You know that wall of warm air that hits you as you exit the plane when you go on summer hols? Well it felt just like that. I was even sweating as i rode the motorway out of there and nealry boiled to death by the time i got to Soho, well it was Friday night so how could i go straight home, it just wouldnt be right.

Now i'd never have enjoyed it anywhere near as much in a cab/train/bus/mates car.

Spent whole of last year flying Ryanair from Stansted every weekend (Girlfriend in Limerick see) and left the bike there lots. No problems with my bike and none others looked touched either, many folks had left their lids in plastic bags unlocked. Got blocked in a bit mind, the double parking can be a pain.
