30k service

Had all the valves gaps checked and they were all within spec. Only probs is a worn out worm drive which caused excess slack in the clutch lever and the gear lever has corroded causing it to be a bit stiff. Only cure for that is a replacement or regular clean-ups.

Nothing unusual. Check Northy's experience of this.

question - is a worm drive the clutch actuator?? i think thats how its spelt as i asked my mechanic and he reffered to it as a worm drive.

Cos of this thing, and i had to go 60 miles without a clutch, and the inability to stop until i got to my destination, jumping three red lights at crawling speed but got there. Think it was £27 from fowlers for a new one if i remember rightly?

I take it we're talking about the bit under the front sprocket cover, that the clutch cable is connected to?

If so then I've heard it variously described, but clutch lifter seems to be the most common term. Suzuki call it "Screw assembly, clutch".

I think that'll be too long ago for the search now tbh... Beware, Sid Squid remembers all! :) Nice easy fix if that's what it is, not expensive either.
