Motorcycle Direct

Hi all,

just renewed my bike insurance with motor cycle direct

£250 fc (with a £650 excess) Carl is very happy

can you beleive they offered me a renewal of £278, so i told them i'd been quoted £250 and they knocked it down to £248 plus a 2% credit card charge

just so you all know, e bike wanted a few more pounds and i'm happy to stay where i am

£157 TPFT

£250 excess, with uk breakdown cover and legal cover (pillion, TP on other bikes et al)

AND for an RM postcode (romford went up several places in the theft/risk ratings this year)

Edit: BTW, I'm 29 with 1 year NCB

When you think about that, that sort of excess is extreme. If you have to pay that before making a claim it makes a mockery of insurance itself.. They've got us by the short and curlies...

What's your age Carl, if you don't mind me asking and do you park in garage or...???

:?

Cuurently I'm paying £600 fully comp with Bennetts, who in all honesty are okay but you can't have any mods at all. It would have been £400 only some little buggers nicked my 125 bike 2 years ago which puts it up by £200.

Am 28 with 0 NCB and only 2 years with full licence.

22 (nearly)
6 years no claims
garaged
meta alarm and alpha dot

if i go for less excess i end up paying

about £500 for £400 excess
and £700 for £300 excess so i'd rather just pay for lower insurance and fix bits myself
like i did recently

I was with these guys last year (Motorcycle Direct). I thought they were a great outfit.

2005 SV650S (new rider) = £340 FC with a £500 excess!!! :D

This year I went with MCE who quoted me £250 FC with £200 excess.
The only reason was that they beat the excess quote of Motorcycle Direct by £50.

Magic,

I am 30yr old living 13miles SW of Glasgow.
