Recommend me some rear-sets
Due to the following:
http://www.visordown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259232 I now need a new gear lever… but I figured that as I was going to get rear-sets at some point anyway, I may as well get them now, rather than shelling out for an OEM rip-off gear lever for the short term. I'll look at anything, so fire off your recommendations. The one proviso, is that I must be able to get it delivered by Friday… but if they are especially nice I may be prepared to wait. Links to pictures if possible would be nice. Cheers, Matt. Oh... it's a 2000 model, fared. |
I like Woodcraft, personally... Non-adjustable but you can choose the peg height when you get them. Nicely put together... Don't have any myself mind, but I will do I think.

Gilles. Best or not I couldnt say, but they're fully adjustable and very robust (ie, they dont break when you crash  )
|
Thanks, but they're all a little less elegant than I was hoping for. I'm sure they do the job, but they do all look like someone let Stevie Wonder loose with the "Mechano".
Thinking about it now, as I'm 6'2", I don't think rear-sets would be practical for me on an SV… and to be honest, the only thing spoiling the look of the pegs area at the moment are the cheapo levers. Anyone know if you can but aftermarket gear and rear brake foot levers? |

First time it broke the back plate in half & toe peg, second time the bearing bit broke. |
Matt..I remember reading that unfortunate incident. Did you manage to trace the owner of the poor victim in the end? :?

Hopefully, the owner knows by now. |
I've got Gilles on the Blade - mainly because having one leg shorter than the other it's handy having adjustable ones.
Just makes my bike damn awkward for anyone else to ride though! One good thing about Gilles is that they sell all the components, even down to single screws, separately. So if you do need to replace a part it's alot easier/cheaper than Harris. |
Its still dam expensive.
Toe peg, abt £15 Gear lever bearing £48  Back plate, somthing like £30.. If you brake one peice ok ish, but the main bits are very expensive. Unfortunatly bling costs money. |
