Crazy Greeks at it again - ROCKET WARS!
Check out this mad bunch!
Apr. 23 - Rival churches in the Greek town of Vrondados fire thousands of home-made rockets at each other. The annual event on the picturesque island of Chios erupts at midnight as worshippers pack the two churches for midnight Easter mass. The exact origins of the rocket war have been lost in the mists of time. The tradition began in the 19th century at the time of the Ottoman occupation. Teams of firefighters were on standby for the big showdown as stray missiles can set light to trees, bushes and even buildings. Paul Chapman reports |
Just like the Chavs on bonfire night
