Z6s vs Pirelli Stradas, worth the extra cash??

The tyre choice saga continues...

I can get Z6s fitted for equivalent of GBP 227, Stradas fitted for GBP 165.

Was going to go for the Z6s, but the price difference has totally swung me round to the stradas, is there that much difference between the two? Figure I'll love either as currentlyon the original Metzs, although they're lacking tread in the middle of the tyre now!

The tyre guy who fitted my Stradas told me that they were the same as the Z6's apart from the tread. Same company (Pirelli is owned by Metzeler now - or is it the other way around?), same rubber compound just a different tread pattern. I had no faults with the stradas, though I only had them a few weeks before the bike got trashed in a pile up.

now that's going to instill confedence

But back to tyres, I've used both the starda's and Z6's and you could well be right they are very similar indeed, at one stage I couldn't get hold of a Z6 front so fitted the strada, and found (for me at least) the Strada on the front and the Z6 on the back work the best, of course it could be just a head thing, but I can use more of the front with the strada on than the Z6, and I get better mileage out of the Z6 on the back.

Another great plus is watching the ignorant at bike meets explaining to their mates why you shouldn't have mixed make tyres

Cheers Mark.

The guy in the shop said something similar about metzelar being owned by Pirelli and them being the same tyre just about. So Stradas it is then for me.

Pirelli Stradas fitted yesterday, felt a lot smoother dropping into corners than the OE Metzs, makes me think that they were maybe a little squared off, slick in the middle, and load of tread on the outside! Mainly caused by the previous owbers I'm claiming. Will report abit more when I've scrubbed them in.

Strada's & Z6's are the same tyres (with a different tread pattern!) Metzler is owners by Pirelli & the make up of the two tyres is identical :!:

Pirelli and Metzeler have deployed the usual smokescreen ;) They'll admit to the same manufacturing process, and the same carcass, is all. They cunningly evade any questions on compound.
