Your favourite lyric

Just came across one that knocked me out, wish I'd noticed it a while back... From Million Dead's "To Whom It May Concern",

"My letter to the human resources department
says you've started a war and you'll get what you started"

What's yours?

(full lyrics are:
"Tonight will be the last night of my record-breakingly successful run in the lead role of the greatest play of the century. Unprecedentedly warm praise from critics and public alike has met my portrayal of a man at his desk who gives a damn. “Oh, oh, oh, if I could only see the clear blue sky from my office window, then oh, oh, it would only take a steel grey day and I’d take my bow.” And I’d like to thank all my friends and fans for always pushing me to soldier on. So one last time (for the cameras) my greatest soliloquy: “Oh, oh, oh, if I could only see the clear blue sky from my office window, then oh, oh, it would only take a steel grey day and I’d take my bow.” To whom it may concern: I’d like to nominate myself to receive an award as a small symbol of recognition for my body of work – a lifetime of selling my body to pay the bills. But my heart and my mind are mine, mine, you will not win this war – this is just a battle. Oh, oh, oh, well I’ve surrendered you my physical attendance here, but no, no, no, you will not take my soul – lest we forget why I’m sitting here. My letter to the human resources department says “You started a war so you’ll get what you started.” I’m only working here because I need the f***ing money." repeat)

Special D Come with me .....great dance tune

At the end of every week each one of us becomes a freak.
Tonight the dj makes us move and then the sweat drops from the roof.
Each time you let the bass beat hard to know we all spend now apart.
Just activate your energy lets sing the song and come with me.

The speaker system brings the sound,
In light effects I'm spinnin round
All the people on the floor they shake their bodies cry for more.
Never let this feeling go and let the music take control.
Forget your problems and be free,
Enjoy this moment, come with me!

Turn it up!

mine change all the time but at the moment they go:

We walked the narrow path,
beneath the smoking skies.
Sometimes you can barely tell the difference
between darkness and light.
Do you have faith
in what we believe?
The truest test is when we cannot,
when we cannot see.

the rest of the song incidentally is beautiful too, its called it cant rain all the time by Jane Silberry xx

These are verses, not lyrics! You're all disqualified, even though they are great. Except for the one about having had a lot of d***.

CAKE - Race car ya yas

The land of race car ya-yas.
The land where you can’t change lanes.
The land where large, fuzzy dice
Still hang proudly
Like testicles from rear-view mirrors.

In common with most aging hippies, my favourite is probably Hawkwind's "Spirit of the Age". Here's the beginning - what a great first line

I would have liked you to have been deep frozen too
and waiting still as fresh in your flesh for my return to Earth
But your father refused to sign the forms to freeze you
Let's see you'd be about 60 now,
and long dead by the time I return to Earth
My time held dreams were full of you,
as you were when I left; still underage
Your android replica is playing up again it's no joke
When she comes she moans another's name

The cafe's are all deserted - the streets are wet again,
There's nothing quite like an out of season holiday town in the rain . . .
