Chain Adjuster Plate thingy...
 

Anyone else had a problem with the plate behind the rear axle nut bending?
I torque the nut up to 100NM as per the handbook but the bottom of the plate bends outwards.
Last time i loosened the axle nut off the plate spun round and took the paint off the swing arm.
Most annoying, hope someone has a solution.
As a temporary measure i've bent the plate back and not tightened the rear axle nut quite so tight but this is hardly an ideal solution.

Mine has bent as well, and the washer is well damaged.

Been like it last 15,000 miles, not a problem as such....

me too, when the plate bends its hard to adjust the chain accurately.

are there any aftermarket adjusters that would work?

I find the adjusters all lie anyway :( For ages Ive been adjusting mine off the chain tension and tracking the rear wheel to make sure it's true. All you need is a piece of string and it only takes a couple of minutes extra.

Which handbook? I torque mine to 65Nm as per haynes. Isn't 100Nm a tad tight? :-k

Specified torque is 65nm. My plate is slightly bent but nothing to worry about

On page 2-22 of the periodic maintenance section the specified torque is 100nm

The chassis section of the handbook gives 65nm as the torque figure for the front axle

Of no help at all, but just for interest, the classic shape doen't have this problem as it has alloy caps which "lip" inside the swingarm end.

I would say look at getting some from an earlier model, however the swingarm end profile isn't rectangular as on the pointies, so you can't.

It's only a flatbit of metal, why not get a bit made up in thicker stainless, can't cost much?

it's one of the areas that they saved a few bob on the new design.
