Police car on bridge M5... shal i be expecting??

well on my way back from plymounth yesturday, i was doing 70 and a bit more, about 20 more.... going north on the M5

when approaching a bridge, about 400m before i was in the middle lane just edging past another car i looked up and saw a police car on the bridge, sat on left hand side of the bridge if you were crossing the bridge, ie furthest away from me,

now i backed off and didnt see anyone out fo the car, or a gun in the car and it was an ordinary jam sandwhich,

whats the liokley hood he was just watching the motor way or should i get ready to post of my licence? i guess only time will tell, but it is really stressing me now, ill be so angry with myself iv iv been cought twice within a year :x

i doubt he would have been pointing the gun as i was coming towards it but im just really pannicing now that if he was and the gun was wrong it might have clocked me by mistake going faster than i was and that means im fooked...

see.. all in a pannic...

sumone reassure me?, or pass me a noose?

Cheers
Alex

All you can do is unfortuanatley count down the longest 14 days of your life! If you don't receive a N.I.P. in this time you cannot be prosecuted.

Here's hoping!

Keep your eyes peeled when riding!

HTH!

Does that count for fixed cameras too?? (bearing in mind I have no idea what N.I.P. stands for!!!)

Yes it does go for fixed cameras as well.
N.I.P. = Notice of Intended Prosecution.

Legally you have to receive one of these within 14 days of the offence for them to prosecute.

Saying that it is 14 days to reach the registered keeper. ie if you had hired the bike & the hire company received the NIP, sent it back & it then was sent to you, arriving in excess of 14 days then it is still (unfortunatley) legal.

I reckon you'll be OK. I got done for speeding on the M5 a few years back. Police car on bridge, I slowed down but not enough and they chased after me up the M5 and then had a chat with me.

I would have thought if they were going to pull you for speeding they would have done the same.

I hate that 2 week thing though, I've got a day or two to wait til I'm safe & sound on a similar score as well

Cheers, 10 days to go then...!!

Got flashed by something round the M25 in that variable speed limit bit by Heathrow and the M4! Was told they had taken the cameras out of there as they weren't deemed 'visible' so cruising around 90 (5:30am nothing else on the road!)
Oh well, licence is currently clean and it was in the car so the wife has agreed to take the hit as she is only a named driver and doesn't also have bike insurance. Although her initial response of "what if you die and I need my own insurance?" could possibly have been phrased better...!!!
