front wheel removal tool?
what size is the allen key needed to remove the spindle from the front wheel? as i need to get the wheel off to replace the tyres
cheers will |
Dont know on the Sv the GSXR is 24mm, but motrax, available from most places, do a fromt axle key (3 sizes on one), I think there about a tenner. The cheaper option would be yo get a couple of inches of the the right size hex bar and put a socket on the end.

Re: front wheel removal
Ok return of the stupid question  where's the cheapest place to get one ????
Plus any tips for wheel removal would b welcomed Thanks all:cool: |
Re: front wheel removal
I'd buy a set of 5/8" allen sockets, as the spindle will need to be torqued up when replaced. You can get these from Hellfrauds etc.

Cheers :) any tips or pointers anyone for front or rear wheel removal?

Re: front wheel removal
front and rear paddock stands are a good start, and once the big bar is unscrewed just pull it through while taking the weight of the wheel. But bare in mind there is a spacer on one side and a cable and speedo drive housing on the other. Make sure the drive housing is clear before pulling the wheel to remove. As the speedo drives on sv's are made from cheese and can break very easily

Re: front wheel removal tool?
12mm = FIAT sump plug key. Available from most motor factors for not-a-lot...

Re: front wheel removal tool?
failing that one 12mm bolt and two 12mm nuts. lock one nut against the other on the bolt and then place the bolt in the socket and use a spanner on the inside nut.

- Counter hold all nuts where you can - Don't be afraid to use force - it's a fairly hefty amount of pressure to make it move - Hex (6 sided) vs Bi-Hex (12 sided) ... makes no difference - each can slip off  Hex will give you slightly more grip. Give it a go and let us know! If you want a good video for removing the rear wheel (also for chain adjustment) check out CanyonChasers video on youtube for their curvy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zB4DsHV8SAQ Cheers Al. |
