R6 throttle tube
Ok-

Yep, straight swap. And you cn get them from a Yamaha dealer. :) Fowlers?
|
what difference does it make? what exactly is a throttle tube?
|
muffles - do a search- its interesting..
|
I did a search and didn't find diddle.
X2 - what's the deal with the R6 tubes? |
i searched - so it's meant to reduce the travel to WOT? i saw some people saying you can feel its quicker in a straight line - how?
im not sure the tenth of a second extra it takes to wind it all the way on a normal throttle affects it that much, does it?? i could see it being a little more relaxing though, if you are banging up and down through the gears... also, how come it's a swap and not just some adjustment you can do on the throttle cable/mechanism? that's the bit i found strangest  |

I have done this mod to my curvy and it is really easy to do, no extra modding required, just adjust the adjusters on the cables to take up/allow slack. I tend to think people get a bit over excited about the real world effects of this mod. I’ll give you the facts that I found out on a discussion about it and you draw your own conclusions!! :)
FACT: The stock tube requires 90 degrees rotation and the R6 tube requires 72 degrees to get the throttle fully open. So you are gaining (loosing?!?!) 18 deg of twist. So if you put that in minutes on a clockface terms 18deg is equivalent to the angel represented by 3 mins!!! Yep that is it, 3 minuets (of a clockface) less twist, put your hand by your watch and simulate it … 3 mins ... thats it ... some people have made out that it ‘transforms’ the throttle behavior, some even saying it makes things over twitchy ... one word … ‘placebo’ (I so wanted to say BS there :D) …… Personally I think the noticeable difference is negligible!! When all is said and done, a R6 tube is ~£7, it does give you wrist that little bit more of an easy time, so my cost benefit analysis :D still says go for it … just don’t expect any transformations!! :) |
I've got an R6 throttle tube, was on my bike when I bought it. Guy I bought it from made a big deal about it. telling me how great it was and how it made sooo much difference to his riding.
I asked him if that's why he was now selling a crash damaged SV. It probably saved me £100 quid as I find people who blush with embarassment much easier to barter with. To me it seems fine, nice short twist to full throttle, but nothing earth shaking. |
