SV650 Supermoto
Few people asked about this, so thought I'd drop some pics in for your thoughts!
Its a 2000 SV650S, rode for 10K miles in standard guise (the mudguard and exhaust lasted about a month tho :lol: ) then fitted the mid nineties GSXR750 forks, yokes, clipons and mudguard, and junked the airbox for pods. It ran in the inagural year of the Straightliners 12.50s class of drag racing, winning four meetings and overall class championship. After that, 30K miles and the influence of riding a TDR250 for the winter (not to mention two buckled wheels and axles from Edinburghs pot holed roads! :evil: ) I decided it was to be my 'adventuring' bike for rides in the highlands, camping, touring and a trip that was planned for Iceland. It has KTM bars, yokes (keeping the steering lock with some fiddling) and forks, original wheel, stem, spindle, calipers and discs, headlight from my drag 'busa (best headlight ever), Acewell clocks, short dogbones, one off bashguard and exhaust. In the garage ready to fit is a late model rear caliper (replacing the crud catcher original), underbraced swingarm (made by adding half a ZXR swingarm) with chain roller, TLS tank (to improve range), fourpot front brakes and mastercylinder (keep wearing out the slide pins in the 2 pots), just needing a fettle :) It rides like no other bike I have ever ridden, corners more controllably holding higher speeds, deals with slither much better, jumps the speed bumps and is uncatchable on singletrack roads. Over 70 the strain on the neck is a bit much but then that would be illegal anyway :shock: Hoping for some snazzy paint soon, and to get a better shock in the rear (Momesso Gaspare had an XR600 I think but they seem like hens teeth, alternative suggestions welcome!). Just seeing those wooly b***ards next to an SV gives me flashbacks. Take 'em away and :smt071 'em! Serve up with mint sauce, then they're lovely. :twisted: Cool project there. Funny tho. Just yesterday I was looking into the possibility of a swap to a TLS tank for a couple of extra litres of go-go juice. Is that a straight swap? The rear hinge looks good to go. What about airflow into the box without the little scoops in the SV tank? Not a problem for yours with the pods i reckon. |

Fuel pump. Is that in the recess to the rear?
I only had a poor quality photo of the underside, couldn't tell what was there. Or if the airbox/carbs would fit. So you reckon it's a non-starter? Difficult to tell what the fit would be like anyway, without offering one up to the frame. |
Fuel pump on teh carbed model's on the RHS of the bike, bolted to the frame. All that's in the tank is the level sensor and the vacuum tap.
