12 months Tax v 6 months Tax

Definately 12 months everytime, why?

Spent 1/2 an hour washing and drying the Bike last night.
Then spent about the same again trying to take the tax disc holder apart, this was not too difficult.
The hassle started when I tried to position the paper Tax disc, the rubber seal, the glass and the outer ring, while fiiting 6 off Screws (and Nuts) all at the same time - what a b*#ll~cks.

Only managed to drop 1 Nut but found it in the end.

So my advice, go for 12 months everytime, not only is there a cost saving but it means you only crack up once a year.

Winge over - carry on.

The waterproof tax disc holders are never waterproof either !

I had to scrape my old disc out with a stanley knife blade as it had turned to sticky mush.

I've "laminated" this years with clear sticky back plastic to try and prevent the problem. (probably watched too much Blue Peter as a kid  )

I taxed my bike this morning (online, very easy to do) but i only did it for 6 months as i reckoned i prob wouldnt ride in December and January so i could sorn it after the tax run out saving me a few pennies

Only do one 6 month per bike just to get the tax out of sync with the insurance.

Mines been fine for 3 years now.

I have a car as well, so i have them 6 months apart. However, the bike has its MOT, Insurance and tax all a month form each other. I will start getting the MOT moved. I did have the bike uninsured whilst it was being stripped and painted so that moved it from December to February which helped.

I do that sometimes. Then the tax gets in sync with Christmas instead of with the insurance :x can't win.

I use an Oberon disc holder, it's at least 10,000 times better than the Oxford ones :) It's not totally waterproof, but very close, but it's nowhere near as fiddly to put together. The Oxford one I had last literally disintegrated after a year, of the 6 (or is it 8?) bolts 4 sheared when I came to remove them. Marvellous.

Can't remember if mines an Oxford one or a Motrax.

I wondered if where I have it mounted was causing the problem (mounted on the chain guard).

Where else can you put it on the SV ?
