Restrictor

Hi everyone,

It's getting close to the day I get my bike and I'm getting a bit aprehensive about the restrictor i've got to have fitted on it. What sort of performance is available from the bike with one fitted? Having never riden a bike over 50cc I don't know what to expect at all :!:

Does anyone know the bhp of a standard SV '06?
Mine will be restricted to the necessary 33bhp so when it comes off next year how much of a difference will it make?

Cheers

Rick

I've got a curvy, but I should think there's minimal difference between curvy and ugly er...I mean pointy :D . The bike will be quick off the mark, and wind on till 6,000rpm, and then it's dead. And then you have to start rattling up the gears. But once you hit 70/75, the bike's poor but you'll still make a ton and maybe a little more.

You'll notice a huge difference when you get the kit removed. You'll have twice as many horses underneath you, after all. It's still fun with the kit on but it won't be long before you want it off.

Just take your time and enjoy riding it, whatever the power!

By all accounts it doesn't affect V-twins as much as IL4s, so you should expect fairly good performance & be able to top 100mph, as other people have achieved this

Expect to go straight through the hedge at the first corner . . . on one wheel if you're not careful
Follow the running in instructions - keep it below 5,000 revs for the first 600 miles, and you should stay out of trouble as you gradually get used to the bike - if you're lucky. Once you get past that, and start to open it up, you'll find a completely different machine will emerge

compared to a 50cc you'll love it.

i used to ride a 125 scoot and the first 3 months didn't get past 4000 rpm as it was so loud and fast!!!

11 months down the line its a different story    (hit 9,000 for the first time yesterday, only in 2nd but my god i can't wait for my 2 years to be up)

dealer

Hi, when you brought the sv was it fitted with the original unrestricted black box, and the dealer changed it, if so make sure you get the original so when it comes to your 2 years restriction ending you can change it yourself, and not pay for the simple service
