geometry
My bike feels a little low at the rear, it has an aftermarket swingarm. I've yet to check the length of the dogbones, but can anyone who has a curvey with stock suspension please measure a point at the tail and a point up at the front so I can work out how far my geometry is out and adjust accordingly?
Cheers Ste |
you'll find it's better to sort the static sag first, which will mean the suspension will be right, before you start adjustiing the rear ride height.
Dogbones or shock mount adaptor plates are the way to go as they won't compromise the suspension performance. you may have to drop the front forks though to balance the bike front to back, the consiquence of which will be lower ground clearance. Cheers Mark. |
The front (front forks unloaded) measuring from the centre of the axle to the top part of the bottom yoke is 528mm. This is for the naked curvy.

Are you using the standard rear subframe and plastics? I'm asking because that is where I'll be measuring to , for the rear if I find the time tomorrow.
Cheers Ben |
Yeah, plastics are stock, but swingarm isn't and it has a gixxer front. I'm going to be sorting out the static sag as well, but I want to see how far off (if at all) the bike will be from "normal". I have a sneaking suspicion that the mounting point for the dogbones on the 'arm is a little further back.
We will see. Ste |
Ste,
I have: 72cm ground -> rear bungee hook 73cm ground -> bottom of headstock 48cm spindle -> bottom yoke Shame I missed the call with the 'sound effects' Lets hope you get the beast back in time for some outings before the weather goes. |
With a GSXR front you are going to have the front lower upto a couple of cm i think depending on the year of the forks.
|
Cheers folks.
Perfect Paul, I know the Gix will be lower, so it looks like the **** is way out, will know once I've done the sag (that's what happens with an R1 rear). I will have to give you another buzz sometime this week. I'm off Thur/Fri so might try then. Anywho, back into the garage, there's a thing that needs a fixin....but not too much then     Mmmmmmwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
What swingarm do you have, anything bling? Photo?
|
it's a JMC top braced jobbie powder coated silver.
I'm going to post some pics once I have got everything else sorted out (only put the fairing brackets back on yesterday. Ste |
