Funnily enough we (can't remember exactly who) were musing the other day that we never watch it in our house - I don't think Isaac's ever had it on, nor is he bothered about watching it. Nor am I. Mind you, we don't watch MTV or owt either.

I remember, from the ages of about 5 to 25 that it was a cardinal sin to miss Top of the Pops. In the school playground/college/work the following morning you HAD to know who had been on it, what they were wearing, etc.

But who will forget the dear audience, with their 'look at me I'm on the telly' dodgy outfits and dancing that progressed from early 70s self-conscious shuffling through to mad-for-it arm waving in the early 90s. Bless 'em.

Any memorable moments, pop pickers?

I stopped watching TOTP about 1980

Concentrated on never missing the Friday Rock show. Knew it would be a rare occasion TOTP would play stuff I liked. :D

But I remember the clips they resurrect in various things, in particular the christmas songs [ie Slade]

Momstoy there was Jukebox jury as well in glorious black and white, Hit or Miss
TOTP went downhill after the changed the theme tune from the CCS version of "whole Lotta love"
The old Grey Whistle Test was much better.

Memorable moments?

There really are too many. I always liked it when they got a decent metal or punk band (say Motorhead or The Exploited) on and watching all the kids in rara skirts and pixie boots trying to dance to it.

Another great memorable moment was when Nick Heyward (of Haircut 100 fame - remember them) forgot to start to mime the lyrics live on air.
