Computer question; ADSL microfilters?

Just got BT broadband yesterday, they are telling me I need to install ADSL microfilters before every piece of telecom kit. Is this the case?

If so I've been looking on line and they range from £2 -£8(BT) -£15 where do I start :?:

Sorry really computer illetterritt

You need one for every fixed line piece of kit you have (plugged into the wall). How many do you need I've got loads lying around the office?

Yer one for each phoneline point, they cost hardly anything, less than 2 pounds but if sharriso74 is offering, take him up on it.

They basically split the ADSL signal so that you have one for phone and the other for Internet

They should send them to you... I'm with BT broadband and they sent me mine. They arrived a couple of days later but they should come.

Bottom line is this:
Standard analogue phones, modems and ISDN lines use Frequencies of between 50Hz and 4KHz (or there abouts, I'm a little rusty)

ADSL kit uses ~6KHz up to something silly.

A microfilter makes sure standard phone kit only gets frequencies below 4KHz, and ADSL kit only gets frequencies above it. Technically not essential it cuts down on all sorts of horrible interference

So its like a crossover then ;) No sub bass frequencies :(
