Tail Tidy Template

Does anyone have a link or is are able to provide details of how to create their own tail tidy for a pointy 650 (K4)? Had a look through the archive and the only one i could see was for a curvy. Mostly interested in knowing where (i.e measurements) the holes for attaching it to the stock undertray need to be.

Many thanks!

I have just this minute finished one, look in the faq's section of the sites home page, scroll down and you will find a top set of instructions and pics from Mitch. The template is spot on, I adapted it a bit to include the number plate light. Total cost.........£7.30 for metal and bolts etc. :D
Will post a pic if I can figure it out (computer numpty)

Thanks Bluepete, will have a look in the FAQs. A picture would ne great, would like to see the 'finished article' to have something to aim for. Did you use the standard indicators, i was hoping to adapt any template to use the indicator bar if possible?

Yep, original indicators fit well, I used two 90 degree angle brackets from B&Q 40mm by 40mm, 20mm wide to mount the indicators on the ends of the number plate mount. Will try pics later today.

The only thing I added was a 10/10cm piece to attach the plate hanger onto the tail tidy. This was to give space to keep the number plate light.

Wow, looks really smart, very impressed with the outcome on your bike, many thanks for the pics. One final question (promise) before i get to work on mine, where did you get the steel from to do the template, been for a look in B&Q who don't have anything remotely suitable?

Bluepete 04-07-06 07:02 AM

My B&Q is better than your B&Q :D :D :D

I found a large variety of sheet metals on the same aisle as the nuts, bolts and screws (also near the metal rods) The one I used was aluminium barley pattern. It is VERY stiff and difficult to bend, so creates a very rigid mount. If you can't find it, perhaps yellow pages? Hope all goes well!

Pete, any chance you can email me the instructions and template? I cant connect to the main site and would love to have a crack at doing this.

Thanks

Stephen

Steve, I can't find your e mail address........as per previous post, I am a computer numpty so if I have missed an obvious one, sorry. If not, post it and I will happily oblige.

Cheers, I've modified my profile so you can see my address now. Thanks a lot.
