How thick do these people think we are?

Put my camcorder on ebay yesterday and woke up this morning to find it had been sold as Buy It Now. I got suspicious as i had not said i would post it outside the UK and the buyer had a 0 rating and had joined up yesterday. Then i saw the e mail as follows. I always thought you needed a verified credit card to join e bay! So now we have medical surgeons who travel the world unable to buy new cam corders and so they settle for a second hand one  what a waste of my time!

hello seller,
i am very glad to inform you of my
genuine intention to
buy this item, and also very happy to have won it as
"buy it now". i am a permanent resident of
the UK and work as a medical surgeon.as i write i am
in far away
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND for an important summit organised
for
all medical surgeon organisation worldwide.please i
want this item
shipped directly to my dearesthusband, has just been
transfered from the UK to work in AFRICA,he works as a representative
of the WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION(W.H.O)
please calculate and get back to me asap
with the cost of
shipping via ROYAL MAIL 1ST CLASS AIR DELIVERY + the
final cost of the
item, calculated altogether in an invoice which i will
be expecting you
to send to me ASAP,so that i can make payment via
PAYPAL.
less i forget to let you will ship out
the item once the
notification confirmation has reached you via
PAYPAL,the confirmation i
believe is to let you know categorically that the fund
for the item has
just been payed for, this does not mean that the fund
will
immediately reflect in your account,it will remain in "PENDING".this is
because i have personally instructed PAYPAL that under
no
circumstances should the fund be released to you until
you have shipped
my the item and gotten back to them at PAYPAL with the

tracking information,so that they could verify it.i
strictly took this
precaution because i have been scammed before by a
seller on
EBAY,so i don't wish to risk my hard earned money
nomore,so please like
i have just explained to you, i believe you understand
this
properly that it's best that i take proper precaution
against this.if
you feel you cannot ship the item as soon as you have
gotten
confirmation mail via PAYPAL and get back to them with
the tracking
information, please and please donot bother to send me
any
invoice for payment.

REGARDS TO YOU AND THE FAMILY
.

I take it Ebay will charge you the listing fee for this waste of time and money?
I rarely use Ebay for selling stuff now as it's not worth the hassle.

Been didled by Ebay and will NEVER use again. Waste of time, effort and money.

Surely it is worth a reply just to insult?

He can hardly speak english yet she is a UK resident surgeon?

Parcel up a box approx size and weight but in the middle fill it with cat ****e. Post it and confirm delivery charges.

Of course a little note asking them to be a little more convincing next time.

Personally I would go to my own expense just to do that.

or relist without a buy now price next time?

and complain to ebay about it, you may find they waive the relist fees. A couple of people on visordown have had them do this so worth a go.

One of the problems here is the lack of help from the people running the system. Where I work we sell stuff all over the world, without much problem, but the only thing we ever get from African countries is the most rediculous scams.

We had one the other week where out of the blue we were sent a Cheque for over four grand, and a request to send 90 assorted computer parts to uganda.

If we present the cheque to our bank we will get charged £25 for it bouncing. We rang all banks involved and got no help whatsoever.
Unfortunately pretty much anything we recieve form Africa has to be ignored.

I did relist and ask ebay to not charge fees on the first time round and also sent em the e mail.
Have used e bay a lot in the past and this is hardly any reason to cease using em despite this lil annoyance.
Not wasting my time e mailing the guy as it hardly gonna stop him doing this to others

you normally haver to wait a few days, but sometimes if they are no longer a resitered user like when some nigairan brought my phone, i went and just reuqested a final value fee credit straight away for a non paying bidder, and i got that back, i dunno bout the listing fee,
