£80 fine for daring to use our leader's name in vane

Now if these T-shirts didn't have the word "Blair" on them, would the outcome have been the same, hmm? Personally I don't think so. Best be nice about our leader or who knows what will happen to you...

So if I haven't posted for a while you know the Blair death squads have broken into jonboy Towers and dragged me away.

political correctness gone crazy

Is that Blair the PM or the Chief Constable of The Met?

Two wonderful characters who have never done anything wrong so they don't need to resign. :D

I wonder how that would have stood up in court.
When the Sex Pistols album came out, Malcolm McLaren was taken to court fo obscenity, and it turns out the offending word is actually slang for priest or vicar, so the case was thrown out.
I guess it could be argued that in context, the tshirts weren't making any religious references...

Still seems a bit ridiculous tho - hardly promoting free speech.

i bet it wouldnt be found offensive for them to put on t-shirts
BLAIR SAYS ********* TO BRITAIN...which is what he seems to think
(* using this word does not constitute bad language...see previous post reffering to the sex pistols)

Didn't Vivienne Westwood's shop get raided in the mid-70's for something similar.

I don't know, on the other hand if it said ******** to Cheese the traders may still have received fines (if there was a public complaint), but would it have made the papers?

I want one

Ping 04-07-06 12:58 PM

Erm.. well I hope they don't catch this bloke i saw in a club not long ago wearing a t-shirt that stated that 'Jesus is a ****' (*insert part of the female anatomy)...

Law 04-07-06 01:40 PM

My friend wears a t-shirt printed with the Labour Rose and 'Bliar' (Not a typo). No one has said it's wrong to say Blair is a liar.
