SV R.I.P
Riding home Tuesday evening along the Embankment going through the traffic lights before Waterloo Bridge. A chap coming the opposite direction decides to turn right in front of me. I slam on the brakes, too hard and the rear of the ike goes airborne just in front of him. Aparently the bike flipped over going across his bonet in the process.
I'm lying face down in quite a bit of pain, fortunately there where 2 community support officers who called the police. Police turned up and took dtails and witness statements. At the time I didn't feel too bad so didn't go to hospital. Phone my long suffering father inlaw to come and pick the bike up, while I'm waiting discover that the bike somehow ripped out his power stering (the old girl got her revenge). By this time my hand is really hurting, so get the bike home and get a lift up to A & E. Managed to break my thumb at the base in 2 places and dislocate it as well. They want to pin it so I'm admitted overnight. Yesterday morning they decide to move it back into place and cast it. They may still have to pin it when I go back in 2 weeks. Other injuries wher a concussion, jared shoulder and very bruised and grazed knees. Good job I was wearing my kit. Onr look at my helmet just reinforces my hatred of open face lids. Oh and it's the wifes bike as mines off the road so I'm only covered third party :( http://upload4.postimage.org/552793/helmet.jpg http://upload4.postimage.org/552796/side.jpg http://upload4.postimage.org/552797/rear.jpg http://upload4.postimage.org/552803/front.jpg |

|
Ouch, glad you're not to damaged. Heal fast.
|
aw poor you. hope your better soon
|
Sorry to hear about your accident. I've just had a broken scaphoid pinned as well. They should be able to do it on day surgery. All I'm left with is a 3mm scar. The wonders of modern keyhole surgery.
Get well soon. |

Get well soon.
Sounds like you've got a good case with the 2 CSO witnesses - have you seen PAWS' 'letter'? So hopefully no worry that you've only got TPO. Do you have legal cover? possibly through any policy you can think of - eg. house contents? your own bike? (also ebike was giving it free with a quote). |
:( At least you're not as dim as me, when I broke my fingers I never went to hospital for a fortnight, I just assumed it'd get better  Fingers tend to heal pretty well though- hopefully it'll not need pinned.
On the bright side, the fact that you hit the car is, I think, a good thing here. If you'd dropped it and avoided hitting it, you'd have a much harder time proving blame. If both vehicles were still in your lane when the police or community support guys turned up, that really ought to be game over. Good luck! |
Glad you're okay, that's the main thing. The other driver's insurance should cover the SV you were riding (particularly as you have witnesses). Hope you heal fast.
Oh and well done with the bonnet-munching stoppie ;). . |
Ouch. :?
Glad you're relatively ok. |
