Memorable Movie Music

Bimbling around at work today in a little world of my own (actually, wondering how Pete was getting on dropping the forks out without me around to supervise :D ) when I suddenly came fully awake, a silly grin on my face and a fluttery, excited feeling in the pit of my stomach. No, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom hadn't just appeared in front of me (DAMMIT)........the Theme to Superman was playing on the radio :D I don't know what it is about that music, but as soon as I hear it I get all little-kid-like!

Anyhow, it got me thinking about other movie music that also has a strong effect on me, and my short list, just for starters is.........

The theme to Star Wars.

The theme to Jaws.

The Ride Of The Valkyries..............helicopter attack in Apocalyse Now.

THOSE 5 tones from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

O Fortuna Chorus..............Arthur and his knights riding into battle in Excalibur.

So what about you? What movie music makes you smile, shiver, cry or just feel like a kid again?

The Ecstasy of Gold from The Good, The Bad And The Ugly... Great piece in its own right, in a great film, but also Metallica's intro track :)

Beat me to it! I've always loved that wee tune but no-one else seems to know it! Good call Lucy, good call

Best Travolta performance I've ever seen too.

Oh, it just has to be that lovely piece where Julie Andrews crests the top of the mountain meadow and bursts into: "The hills are alive, to the sound of music...."

You can keep al those horrible films with bare bottoms and worse on display, Julie was - no, IS - a lovely girl with a voice like a bell.

But Camilla dear, even her Julieness got them out in one of her films I seem to recall?

the classical music that used on 2001 all of it. Sticks in my head for ages.

Samuel Barber, Adagio for Strings - From Platoon

Canzonetta sull'aria, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - From The Shawshank Redemption

There are certain things that an up-and-coming young gal sometimes has to do which are best left unmentioned, and not discussed by gentlemen.
