Not one of the clubs I wanted to join

During a rideout yesterday. I managed to “rear end” a member from another site and of all the members, I had to hit a policeman! He, Chris, stopped behind a Volvo which had braked suddenly to allow another car to come though Etchingham, High Street where it happened, I saw Chris’ brake lights, hit the brakes, locked up and slid into the back of him. The accident seemed to happen in slow motion I had enough time to work out how I was coming off the bike without hurting myself, I remember thinking that as the bike gets to this angle, roll off, and that’s what I did.

Chris and his pillion didn’t come off, and for that I’m thankful ,would have hated to have injured someone from my lack of concentration, riding too close, using back brake instead of front etc. etc.

But I have damaged his bike, tail end plastics cracked, number plate hanger, his pride and joy exhaust dented, for this I am really, really, really, really sorry, I know the insurance will sort it all out, but it means his bike will be off the road, again.

A friend helped me lift my bike back up, my poor baby. I couldn’t continue the ride as the clutch lever had broken off as had the left footrest hanger, carries the gear shift stuff. Friendly lady up the road said I could leave the bike on her drive. another rider let me ride pillion with him, so I could find hubby who was leading the ride and tell him what I’d done :o

Collected the bike yesterday evening with hubby and another friend, not huge amount of damage, the recently fitted R&G crash bungs did their job, but I'll be needing a new mudguard, front plastic bit and the little light thing, couple of panels need filling, sanding and re-painting. New clutch lever required along with a new gear lever hanger. Won’t take much to get her back on the road, she just won’t be as pretty as she was
