EBC Gold Brake Pads
I fitted these 2 months ago ( 2000 miles)
and they are almost worn out. On various Websites it states that they shold last a very long time... I still had the Original Tokito pads on the bike before & they lasted 18000 Miles  |
EBC gold.. You mean HH (FA229HH?)
|
How are you with your braking? Are the calipers binding?
|
I don't know exactly.
Might not be EBC ones. They came with the calipers I bought. It only said Brand new Gold Brake pads My Brake lines are covered in brake dust aswell after every ride. @TSM How can you tell if the calipers are binding ? |
You'd feel resistance when you push it usually, also the discs will usually be hot after a short, no-brake ride. Though binding can be intermittant.
|
Doubt it's EBC brake pads they're more likely to eat the discs from heavy useage than wear out.
|
There is a brand of pads called Gold Fern. They make pads in both standard and sintered (HH) compounds. I've used these before on a Triumph Trophy and they're the softest sintered pad I've ever found, wear out much quicker than EBC ones do. Having said that any pad should last more than 2,000 miles, unless you're a racer that is!
The fact that your original pads lasted 18,000+ suggests that it's not your riding style so I'd suggest that your "new" calipers may be binding. As already stated EBC sintered pads are long lasting. cheers Stewart |
