Price of petrol...

Saw something on the news lunchtime, saying that petrol *could* reach £1.60 per litre
Not sure what the timescale was supposed to be though, and I was doing other things.. anyone shed any light?

Petrol was about 13p / litre when I started bike riding.....

 What the ?!*% ? (Same reaction to how long you've been riding a bike as well... I can't even remember a time of less than 70p/ltr).

How glad am I that I recently got the company I work for to pay fuel, thought of 24,000 miles/year at £1.60/ltr is enough to make me cry.

Apprently its all to do with the middle east doing the level best to kill each other.!!

The reckon a pound a litre by the end of the month, then so on and so forth.

Its time for the governmnet to cut tax on fuel in the short term. Setting a maximum of say a quid a litre. They aint gonna do that though are they now?

The cheapest that i can remember fuel is about £2.10 a gallon, when i was about 12ish.

there were already o couple of places on the AR route that were above £1/litre.

I filled up in London yesterday (well brent cross tesco to be precise) and it was £99.9p/litre. Bloody theiving gits the govt are. £8 of every £10 we put in goes to govt, how f*$&*&in ridiculous is that?

I remember when petrol pumps had an option which allowed you to specify how much money's worth you wanted to put in. You pressed a button once for each £ of fuel and it automatically cut out. A notice on the pump said not to be used if price exceed £1.00/gallon. I thought to myself that will never happen :( Price at the time was about 80p/gallon.

Would have been in the late 70's.

I'd agree that the Queensferry etc area (start of A55) is pretty expensive, but IMO, that's mainly to cash in on people on long journeys (as service stations do on motorways).

The A5 will always bee expensive too, espeically in the summer, given that it's a tourist route. Having said that, if you find yourself my way (north western tip of snowdonia), cheapest places around I've found are Shell at Betws-y-coed (A5) and the Shell at 'Black cat roundabout' (Llandudno Junction A55 to the non-locals). The good news is that the A470 joins both these filling stations.
