replacing rear brake pedal?
first post...nice to meet y'all.
i searched and didn't find an answer, so can someone tell me how easy/difficult it is to replace a rear brake pedal? assuming i can even find one (without buying a whole rearset), is it easy to do? the pedal portion broke off somehow and i need to replace it. it looks easy, but it might be harder than i expect...any thoughts? it's a 2002. thanks in advance! |
you can buy these from the dealer can't you?

Easy:-
remove clevis pin from brake master cylinder, connects to brake pedal. remove brake light switch. remove foot rest hanger, two hex head machine screws. ndo large hex headed bolt from rear of footrest hanger, remove brake pedal. don't forget there is a bush inside the bearing surface of the pedal it would be best to replace thiws as well. |

couple of questions... - do i need any special tools? hex wrenches and regular wrenches should suffice, right? - the clevis pin is the same thing as a cotter pin? i imagine i replace it with a new one, right? - i'm not sure what a "bush" is inside the bearing surface...if i need to replace this, where would i get one? sorry for the dumb questions...i'm fairly new to working on my bike and don't know all the terminology yet. thanks again. |

Also do not forget to re-connect the two springs before putting the two hex bolts back in. |
