Tappet shims

Going to have to check the tappet shims soon but do i buy a pack of varying sizes or do i have to measure every thing and buy them individually (having to put the bike back together again to get to the Suzi dealers  )?

And what sort of price am i looking at, just out of curiosity?

You need to measure them and then go buy what's necessary.

Or you could buy a dealer kit of shims if you want - about £4000 for the Suzuki kit right now if I remember right.

I've heard of nice dealers doing it on an exchange basis...

When I did the Kwak the going rate was around £6.50 per shim. I'd book a mate to give you a lift to the bike shop or public transport it as there's no sense in doing all the work twice!

Make sure you have a decent metric micrometer and set of feeler gauges as I can promise you at least some of the current shims will have had the numbers polished off them by rubbing between the valve stems and buckets.

You never know you may well find it's all in tollerence and you don't have to worry about it at all 8)
