Motrax indicators.......... design flaw??
Just a heads up for anyone looking at getting motrax indicators, I bought some LED tip indicators to fit to the bike. They were supplied with a nut and spring washer to fix them on.
Whilst trying to tighten them up the threaded part popped out of the rubber part of the indicator leaving the thing dangling by the wires  Phoned Motrax and they said it must be a fault with the product, so I tried the other set I'd bought for the front, guess what? same thing happens!!!! I didn't over tighten them, they were finger tight then 1 turn with a spanner, the spring washer hadn't even compressed. So I'm going to have to superglue the rubber part back onto the threaded rod and finger tighten the nut and araldite it in place, not very good but the best I can do. Reckon it's a design flaw in the indicator itself as the threaded rod is just screwed into rubber which is very weak. |
Never had that happen, but then I've never used the rubber ones. The thread does pull out of the plastic ones in crashes etc, or if the plastic cracks (if you, for instance, back into a fence)

The J&S ones i had did the same thing and superglue did the job but the Motrax ones i now have like yours are perfect and no probs when fitting em

I probably just got a bad batch, however last night after hours of work fitting the tailtidy, flasher relay etc. then they break, the air turned blue in the garage :D
Reckon I'll do the same and superglue/araldite them to stop them from falling apart. I was raging when it happened as I'd had a minor disastor just prior to that when soldering some cable. Stupidly I was doing the soldering above the hugger, and a big blob fell onto the hugger. so I now have a nice silver looking artist blob on the chain guard of the hugger!! Going to trying and prize it off then put a sticker over it as there's no way I spending over £100 for another hugger. Mental note to self :- soldering to be done 10metres from bike...... |
no I had that too-- jsut have to thread it back in.. and then hold it wen u tighten it up- yea its a bumer but mine are fine now.
oh after a little super glue on the thread. |
Me to just super glue it!!!!!

mine done the same,
bit of super glue sorted it. |
