Wierd Noise :S

I went to the Big CC open day last saturday and was doing a few wheelies (naughty naughty, I know) but after I put the bike down, gently of course, sometimes it would make a noise as if something was scraping. Like the sound of metal to metal. The noise slowed as the bike slowed, which leads me to believe that it was something to do with the wheels.

I checked my brake pads and they're fine, the chain is nice and tight and well lubed, so I'm a bit stumped as to what it could be because it only happens occasionally.

Also my bike has now begun making a small rattling noise when i first start it up.

Could this be something to do with the cam shaft? (I've heard this is a common problem)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

How long are keeping it on the back wheel for? Lots of previous wheelie threads warn of oil starvation.

It;s not even run in yet!!!!!

What can I say, you're doing wheelies...

Davido 30-07-06 06:36 PM

Not keeping it for more than 8-10 secs at a time, doing them purely for showing off purposes. :p

Yeah I've heard that the SV is very subceptible to damage because of wheelies, but I wasn't actually sure as to what the problem was.

If its the cam chain how can I check it? Not being a very mechanically minded person.

Thanks for the replies.

The rattling noise will seem to disappear as the revs increase!!!!!

As opposed to what? Saving wear on the front tyre or seeing better for an overtake?
