Brake light prob's...i think
 

Forgive me if this sounds confusing....when my ignition is on and lights are on it seem's like my brake lights are stuck on due too the brightness ommiting from the rear end and when the either brake is aplied theres no difference to the brightness, however if i turn the lights off then apply the brakes the difference is noticable,

I fisrt thought one of the brake sensors were sticking but after disconnecting both front and rear sensors the rear light still seems bright as if the brake lights are on.

Can anybody shed any light on this??

To clarify, you get full brightness from the tail light, with the lights on, and without them on, you get the same only when the brakes are applied ?

so at no time doo you get the lower out-put ?

Sensors ? are you talking about the front and rear brake light switches ( one below the front brake lever pivot, and the rear behind the left foot peg hanger)?

on the face of it, it sounds like you have a broken wire or short on the rear light harness, as both use a shared earth, unplug it, then using some spare wire just connect up the lower out-put with the lights on (black wire = shared earth), then using the other wire (only three wires, two used for first test) try the high out-put.

this will show one of two things either both circuits won't work, showing the shared earth is broken, or just one will work, showing the other is also acting as an earth, you can test this by connecting up both lighting wires and not the shared earth, if it lights you need to trace out the wiring and find the short.
