Possibly newbie after advice
 

At present i am tooling around on 2-strokes but what something more reliable etc and capable of doing some decent mileage in comfort. BEing an old f*rt I am not overly worried about top-end, as long as it will hit 110-120mph whenever I want to, enough acceleration to see off Mr Rep at the lights and has enough torque to shoot past artics without worrying about whether it will pull up the hill then I'm happy...I'm assuming that the SV will do this? I prefer smaller bikes but it has to be capable of taking a pillion, with a certain amount of luggage...again peformance isn't paramount just as long as it can lope along at 80-90 two up without the bike being stressed...wouldn't want to go faster for long periods if I opted for the naked version anyway. I thought about the bandit but methinks it is a tad big, Fazer is perfect but bland, Hornet too expensive.

So questions first (opening a can of worms) which is best the curvey or later models?

How reliable are they...I haven't got time to tinker...other bikes to restore, degree course to do and family to provide for etc

I prefer something naked (don't we all :wink: ) but need to know what are the differences between the faired and the naked versions? Top end, acceleration? I read the page by page review on here, which was for a curvy, faired model and the figures looked perfect for what I want but they didn't compare the faired with naked figures.

I tend to prefer a more upright position (damned old age again) is the naked of an upright stance? is the stance the same for like for like between the curvy and later models?

Any other info gratefully received.

theres not a lot between them (curvey /pointy)its more of a styling thing ,but a newer bike SHOULD have had less messing about with reg extras and in gen be a bit' fresher' . the naked is more upright than the faired and a bit quicker off the line because the gearing on the rear sprocket is btr for acceleration .reg speed , both of them will do abut 130 ish and have lots of torque for two up work , cruising at around 80-90 is no prob ,with a bit in reserve ,bearing in mind the faired version is btr for high speed stuff due to the windblast being a lot less on a faired bike (obviously) but either of them would b ideal for you by the sound of it .by the one you think looks best you wont be dissapointed by it ,very underrated bike try one youl b surprised :wink:

I was torn between curvey and pointy when I bought.

If I was you and you like Fazers get a pointy faired model K4 on (slightly lower pegs and seats than K3 pointy) and fit the yoke conversion to give you up right bars.

My best mate has a Fazer (old style) is quicker and faster than my SV but the chasis is nowhere near as good, used to stop better than mine too but not mow i have GSXR brakes . :twisted:
