Fork legs and yokes
 

Changed the oil in my forks last night.
Measured the position of the fork legs in the yokes so I could put them back in the exact same place.

What is the correct position for this, I could not find a spec for this in the manual (OK I only thought of this today and haven't actually looked :oops:)
Mine measure 9mm from the yoke to the top of the cap (the flat bit not the nut part).

What effect will moving them up or down have (apart from the ride height :D), quicken/slow the steering etc ?

The standard position on the naked is 6mm to the top of the fork tube ie measuring any part of the cap.

having more showing will quicken the steering. Maximum you can go is said to about 15mm. I wouldn't go more than 10-12mm myself unless I've measured myself how much it really is before parts that touching on full compression :wink: .

6mm to the top of the stanchion only on a naked, faired bikes are set level as standard.

or 6-10mm on a faired if you want it to go around corners ;-)

Some people prefer the stability of having them tall. I had them dropped about 12mm and liked it, but it didn't work so well with a stock shock, that, I felt.
