Orange warning light - not Petrol

Hello!

Was on my curvey this morning & the petrol light was flahing - no surprises there....but at a set of ltraffic lights another orange warning light came on next to it (think it was actually above it). When I noticed it, the light blinked out so I didn't get a good look at it.

What is it & What should I be worried about?

Had the bike serviced 6 weeks ago & it just passed its MOT on Saturday with no faults......

Thanks

Dirk

coolant temperature?

Not unknown for fan to suddenly come on when sat at lights, but many fans give up the ghost and the owner never knows, so maybe time to check by shorting out the connectionto your sender and see if the fan kicks in.

Jsut had a look at the owners pdf - there is no ornage light above the fuel indicator light!

Must have been a trick of the light coming thru' the bottom of my visor.....

Thanks for the fan tip though!

Does the curvy SV have a Fan ?

If yes, then mine never comes on.

Mine used to, but now doesn't. Checked it out, and all the bits are functional (thermostat and fan) but the activation temp's pretty high- 97 degrees c if memory serves. The only time I can ever remember it coming on was when the bike was sat still and running while I parked it- the airflow seems to do the job when it's moving.

Ah, here's a thought. If your coolant's low, the thermostat is pretty high up the radiator... It might be possible for the level to be below the sensor?

I rarely noticed my fan coming on in the past, it's quite quiet, but now that I have a rad guard it definitely comes on more often.

Must check my fan. When riding BBC's bike last week, i noticed her fan was coming on a lot, but mine on the same journey doesnt.
