First time tyre removal
 

I got me self a bike stand and a couple of loovely bobbins so I'm planning to take off the rear tyre to help give the bike a PROPER GOOD OL' CLEAN. The SV is me only means of transport now (don't do public transport) so i need to make sure its always in tip-top condition. Scottoiler is in the post.


I need hints with removing the rear wheel (probably more help with putting it back on). I don't have a torque wrench, is this vital for doing up all the bolts? Maybe the rule of thumb....till you can't turn any more would work?

I take it you mean wheel removal rather than tyre removal. It's a piece of ****. It will be the same for a pointy and a curvey with the exception that you will have to loosen the bolts on the rear brake torque arm on a curvey. Other than that just undo the spindle and remove to drop the wheel out. A torque wrench isn't essential. Just do it up tight enough that its not going to fall out.

yep....did mean wheel. Removing a tyre what was he thinking :roll:


Just concerned that the wheel will go back all wonk....but I'm guessing it works a little different to a BMX wheel.

You don't have to realign it when you put it back in. The chain adjusters stay on the swingarm.
