Busa shock on an '06 sv650 naked
 

I want to do this. I'm trying every SV forum on earth to find out if it can be done with no cutting or fabricating. I want to use aas new a shock as I can, so years that would fit along with what all I'd need would be a big help.

I've been told it's a lot of overkill, but I weigh 250lbs, so it doesn't seem too bad to me. Thanks in advance

I think any shock you chose to put on the SV wouldn't go far to making things significantly better for you. There's only so much you can modify anything before reaching its limits. Given your size, other areas that will limit you will be the front suspension, the engine power, the tyre sizes and pressures.

Fitting a different shock to the Pointies, especially the K4's and beyond, without cutting anything, is extremely unlikely. I'm not familiar with the 'Busa's shock, but if it's anything like the GSXR shocks with a piggy-backed reservoir - then something will need to be cut - there really isn't much room back there.

Alternatively, buy an Ohlins or similar shock, made for the SV, and your weight, and make sure it has a remote reservoir.

Well, power wise I feel okay with it. It's my first bike, and seems faster by far than even the quickest 'Vettes I've driven. I've already begun the parts buying for the front end, springs and oil at least. I was thinking of emulators, but heard there only truly beneficial to track days. I don't intend to go to the track, just commute and the daily back road blast through town. I thought of Penske and Ohlins, but like the emulators I hear they only really shine on the track. Truthfully, I just want to be happy. And I only want to do this once.

Yes the 'Busa shock can be fitted but as with all piggy-back shocks you'll need to do a bit of trimming to the battery box.

Remember that the 'Busa shock is shorter than your stock one so shorter dogbones will also be required to restore your ride height. It can be done and at your size it should work pretty well.
