elephant on metzelers ???

i just bought a pair and noticed a elephant on the read wheel, not on the wall but on the chicken strip edge, any ideas what it is for? maybe it should be a :smt117 not a :elephant:

Its just their logo isn't it? Like Michelin have that fat git, Metzeler have an elephant. But I've just had new Roadtec Z6 put on so I will see if they're on mine, like Richie said, sounds like a challenge

I had some Z6's fitted about a month back, with all the bad weather I've only done about 100 miles on them but they seem really good tyres. I've just reached the top of the elephant now, I aim to rub them out as fast as possible but haven't had the time / conditions / confidence yet!

I know there are many many variables involved from corner to corner, but for an 'average' corner, can anyone confirm they have taken a Z6 right to the edge with no brown trouser moments? To be honest, I felt like I was pretty far over when I have only got to the top of the elephant, but it felt very stable at this point. I don't want to start pushing it to rub out the elephant and have it suddenly go on me though!

cheers,
Matt

Having used several sets of both Z6's and Strada's I can quite honestly say they are better that you are, the construction and conpound work well together and broadcast when the limit is reached, on the other hand weather you're able to understand the feedback is whole other story

Given an average corner (not that there is such a thing) and average ability, the weight and power of the SV, these tyres will be the least of your worries, any cornering problems will more that likely be caused by poor throttle control/panic braking/target fixation/bad lines/lack of obsevation/ or other rider input.

They work pretty well on a 140BHP Triumph Speedtriple as well by the way.

Cheers Mark

Rictus,

To be honest, that sort of answer is what I wanted to hear. Since doing my DAS a year ago I have never ridden 'with' anyone and never followed anyone through twisties (no, really!) and I really have nothing to judge my speed through corners against. I honestly don't know if I am 'fast' or 'slow' through a given corner, as I have no-one to compare against. (Mental note to find some riding buddies!)

This is why I ask the question, I don't / didn't know how far the Z6's can go, but from what you say, that gives me the confidence to try that extra bit of lean. (I won't hold you responsible for any mishaps!)

Cheers,
Matt
