Dust Seals

If the dust seals on GSXR forks (the ones with a little sping strap collar) are all cracking around the edge but the bit in contact with the fork is ok do they need changing anytime soon? There is no leakage from the oil seals and the dust seals dont seem to be dry on the contact surface.

I'd change 'em if it was me. if they're visibly worn they'd have to go. The oil seals should be fine unless they're leaking.

I would change them just its on a mates bike and he does not have the time or money to strip the forks to change the seals (USD forks). If it will pass for a while it will stay as is until its sorted.

Aah me see now. The dust seals on USD forks mean a full strip. Leave 'em until they leak then, not sure about MOT issues :?

dust seals can look crappy as long as oil isn't leaking past the oil seals it'll pass an MOT.
