Where have you been caught speeding the most?
AS it says, I find myself worrying a lot about speeding on the motorway, but not really on smaller roads. Where do you seem to get caugth most often?

Not been caught due to a mixture of luck, paranoia and keeping at a reasonable speed most of the time.
Do traffic light cameras catch speeders as well, cos someone else didn't slow down and speeded up a lot to run through an amber light? |
Twice on an A road - 36 & 65
Once on a B road - 50 Once on a motorway - 124! |

Never been caught, despite holding licences since 1977.
I have had the police alongside me at 135mph for over 20 miles and they have waved me goodbye. I have only been pulled once for speeding at 80 in a 30 limit at 4:30 in the morning. I saw him as I went passed the road he was hiding in. He asked me what speed I was doing (Lied), what the speed on the road was. took my bollicking. As he said. You could see for over a mile that there was nothing on the road, but you didn't see me in that side street until you passed. Strange how I don't speed that badly on there any more. I do for my shame have one conviction, riding a push bike with defective brakes. When asked was it mine I told the truth and said it was my brothers. imagine the shock when they turned up next day during a family dinner and arrested him for aiding my offence. I got £10 and him £5. |
I've not been caught - yet. It seems enevitable that I will be caught one day, as will most people. My one and only speeding endorsement expired, oh, over 25 years ago now.
[later] I seem to have contradicted myself. Not unusual   |
I've not been convicted on the bike due to the usual combination of paranoia and being 'sensible'.
I was caught once, on my little Yammy RXS100 jsut after I'd run it in. It was my first bike and so I did the useual teenage (OK, anyage) thing of opening it up to see what it was capable of. I managed 86 along a clear stretch of the A6 in Bedfordshire. I was concentrating so much on the road infront that I didn't notice the bike copper until he flashed his lights at me. Pulled over, helmet off (hair was down to my bum then too) smiled somewhat guiltily and produced my provisional licence. He asked how fast I was going and I admitted to not actually knowing as I was concentrating on the road, though I did say that I knew I was over the limit. He grinned and gave me my docs back sayign I was doing 86 and that he was amazed I could get that bike to that speed - and cautioned me not to do it again. Five months later he was the first official on the scene when I had my big bad crash on that same road a little further on. I remember him bending over me in the road and asking if I was doing 86 - to which I replied "No sir, I don't think the bike can go that fast sir" |
i only commute on my bike to work, it's a 10.5 mile journey that takes me 35-45 minutes. 45 minutes = sticking within the limit, 35 minutes = absolutely going for it, 70mph+.
10 minutes is all i saved! and since it's still 35 minutes to do 10.5 miles, the limits clearly aren't the issue, so i don't see the point in breaking them on the few occasions i might be able to. don't use my car either. so that all boils down to  i haven't been caught and hopefully won't, if i get caught i want it to be worth it and not trundling by on my way to work :D |
only 4 tickets but in a car and not on the bike
one for 60 in 40... 3 points £40 (expired) unmarked police car followed me. one for 36 in 30... static cam, faulty speedo in a 1973 mini went to court and got let off!! 8) one for 63 in 50... static cam, cruse control set and forgot to turn off, 3 points £60 (1 year left until expired) one for 43 in 30... hidden mobile after a static cam, done that speed awaireness course, no points. |
45 in a 40. Just moved into the area, coming up a hill, dozy cage mode figured that the white van with half it's back in flourescent markings was a works van. I was wrong
Didn't fight it, accepted points & £30 fine. Now expired and I've moved house again so got rid of them for free. Not been caught on the bike, mainly luck I suppose. (No officer, I dont speed, honestly) |
