Tachometer question from a noob

Hello to all, and thanks in advance for any info!
Just picked up a '99 sv650, and have just now started tinkering with it. The sticker that shows the numbers on the tack is all but non-existent. Also, the chrome cap on the back of the tack is missing. Can I replace the sticker and or chrome cap or do I have to pick up a new tack/speedo assembly?
Also, I have done a little searching on getting a better 'growl' out of the v-twin, and stumbled across the 'mufflerectomy'. Is it worth it? And how much leaner is the bike gonna run? I've read that I should re-jet, but is it absolutely necc?
Things I'm looking at:
De-snorkeling or K&N
re-jetting
mufflerectomy
What do yall think?

Again, I appreciate the info, and apologize for the long post.

Be sure that for each step you have checked what model of SV it's for. The '99 Curvey SV does not have a snorkle to the airbox AFAIK this is a tip for the pointy owners....

Unless you are talking about taking the inside of the airfilter out on the curveys like mine is.

These stickers you are talking about, is the bike an import?

Jambo, what are you saying? My '99 has a snorkel in the airfilter and came stock with it. You sure you are talking about the right bike?
