I gotta say, from what is available on that video, the biker was completly at fault. Pulling in in front of a vehicle with his anchors on. What other result was there going to be?

Really lucky to be alive but I disagree about the biker being completely at fault.

He appears to have done an overtake and pulling into the inside lane. Granted he wasn't exactly on the ball the car driver has to take the blame.

I agree, it looks like the car was going faster than the bike whilst the bike pulled infront. but is it the bikers fault, or the car drivers? I want to have a rant about something I know I do aswell as others.

I feel the problem is the speed cameras and roadside police, people passing the police car are looking so much at thier speedo that they cant pay enough attention to the road. yet these are supposed to prevent accidents?

Watching the video in slowmo, looks like he possably did. What i found odd though was that the hazard lights were already on before the car hit the bike (its possable its a new feature in some cars when emergency braking).

Now some peeps might not like this but here is some caps. Remember that UK frame rate is 25fps, watch the top right of image and you see how quickly everything happens.

THis is what annoyed/ ammused me slightly

If Mrs here was behind the accident, and if the motorcyclist was weaving, undertaking and travelling at high speed, how come the motorcycist is still just in front of her when the accident happens ?

As for th accident itself looks like Mr Biker has misjudged the speed and distance of the car (or the car has speeded up as he has moved over).
Probablycould have been avoided if both parties where concentrating on the road a bit more

I am assuming that he is overtaking the car, as Caddy points out below you can't actually see if he is or was just over to the right of his lane.

The biggest problem here is that you cannot see enough of his manouver to tell whether he was overtaking or just liked to take a more central position on the dual carridgeway.....

..... Either way, very odd for an IAM rider....

Jury's out on this one, but I'd like to see the police report especailly as the CPS didn't go for driving without due care (either that or Essex CPS hates bikers!!)

Interesting.

My interpretation was that the white car pulls out from the lay-by. The red car brakes to avoid it. DOes this mean that he bike then slowed to avoid and pull over to the hard shoulder and got rear-ended?
