Ex coppers seem to get preferential treatment.
My brother in law went out with one. As nature occured she became in the family way, but not for long. He was desperate for children, she already had a child. He came out with the classic line of "I am going to kill her".
The day of the Manchester IRA bomb, he was due to visit us and never turned up. He lived close to the site of the bomb and we were getting very worried, until the police alerted us that he had been arrested that day for making threats to kill.
He was remanded into Strangeways nick for 3 weeks before getting bail on his third appearance before the magistrate. At which time the prosecution told the magistrate that whilst Mr K..... made the threat they did not believe he had no intention to actually carry out his threat and at that point he got bail. 4 months later they dropped the charge.
3 weeks banked up, nearly 5 months of worry that he may end up back inside. All because of a bitch in blue and coppers wanting to look after their own.
Personal opinion is that any investigation that involves a serving or ex police officer must be carried out by offiecers from another force.
