cruiser menace

OK, I seem to have a reputation for moaning so lets enhance it.

I went for a little bimble in the hills over the weekend, 3 times I get stuck behind fecking idiots on cruisers. Why is it these people.

1) wont overtake the cars in front of them
2) never look over their shoulders or use their mirrors
3) brake and slow down on twisties
4) ride with about 20 other like minded imbicles
5) think they have a god given right to interfere with my progress

Getting stuck behind these types on country lanes is dangerous. You end up having to take risks just to get past. They seem oblivious to the fact that others want to use the road.

Also thanks to the riders of oncomming sports bikes, who gave me the thumbs down to alert of scamera van ahead, strange no oncomming cruisers indicated. Then again, I guess that because they are incapable of doing above the speed limit, they assume all bikers are the same.

Sound like cars then - so treat them as such???

So the problem is with people riding as they want, at the pace they're happy with? And you're forced to overtake them dangerously? Why do you think you have a god given right to go as fast as you want? Their right to ride as they want, as long as it's legal, is just as important... Probably more so, since if you're taking risks to get past it's you that's riding dangerously, not them, no?

And yesterday I was in the cage - three lanes, 50mph limit, stuck behind two sportsbikes (looked like an R1 and a TL) doing 40 in the right hand lane and not appearing to have much clue about what they were doing.

Saw a guy on a cruiser this morning, in a suit, riding on the pavement alongside the North Circular

Purely idiotic, granted.

I've never had my knee down on a crusier, never seen anyone else do that either.

I'd call that a ride out on a nice day. Do it myself now & again, and I don't ride a cruiser.

All I have to say in response to that, is that I agree with Northy, maybe you need to look a little closer to home.

Just a 2p post.

I've seen sportsbike riders who ride like that to.

Ditto Northwind.

Timwilky - you prat.

Peter Henry 11-09-06 09:29 AM

Tim..I can understand your frustration, but perhaps a toot of your horn and a hand wave and then when a slower rider in front sees you, then there is every chance he will allow you space to pass?

Cars on A and B roads? Moving chicanes aren't they guys? There to be negotiated? :)

That clip funny? Very strange comment. :?
