Top Box

I know it's frowned upon to have a top box but it's certainly easier than soft luggage.

I have oxford sports luggage and although it's ok I think for my daily commute I would like to get a top box?

Any suggestions?

I would like one than is relativaly easy to install/unistall. I'm lucky as I dont really have to worry about security too much. It's just the ease of carrying that I need.

Do I have to get a frame or do they have one that fits onto the pillian? Givi do good boxes but are they the best for the SV?

Cheers

buy a top box and a spare rear seat, bolt the two together, that way you can remove it easly without any signs that you have a top box and replace it with a normal seat.

I have a givi monorack on the SV.

Good points: easyish to fit, can choose different size of top box for your needs
Bad points [aside from looking crap before jonboy starts :P ]: rusted worse than the SV over two winters but not so bad it needs replacing, bolt has come loose once meaning tb was rattling

I like the fact its fitted on a rack and is more secure than strapping something to the seat. As said, downside is it doesnt look brilliant - pic middle of page in this thread: http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=41537

I think topbox's look GREAT on a bike (Nope, didn't hit my head this morning), I think they really add to the liens of a bike. Well, they did to my xj600s and will do to my curvy too! When I can afford one. Unfortunately they are not that common on ebay (the racks for the sv)

If you want to keep your pillion free, then have a look at the alurack systems, otherwise putting it on the pillion is a good idea.

I recently put an Alu-rack on my SV to take a top-box. It's much neater than the Givi Monorack.

Out of interest where did you get your Alu-rack system from? Is there a shop I can go into to have a look rather than online?
