chain adjuster problem

just undid axle bolt & silver adjuster plate turned round & put a big gauge into black swing arm. The silver plate with the adjuster marks is now bent , have straightened however when undo axle bolt the plate keeps turning round , is this a common probelm ? I guess the rear axlehas been over tightened ?
Any idea how much a plate will cost ?

Cheers Steve

You should slacken of the the chain adjusters before undoing the rear axle bolt! (That is what you meant by silver plate? Not the one with the notch in it?)

Just had a look on a US fiche and they are quoting around $15 for a replacement plate. Although US and UK don't really compare - it gives you an idea that it's not going to be stupid money!

EDIT - One second reading I don't know which plate you are referring to. Is it

Number 15 on here:

or number 8 on here?

the second part is quoted at $4.

If it's spinning, then it would almost certainly be number 8.

It is a common problem, I doubt it has been overtightened.
Just be careful when you're working on it and tape it back or something if you have to.

i have this problem with my k3, its prob the side you tighten the nut isnt it?
hold the nut tight with a socket or something and tighten the other side.

the adjuster plate is made of cheese, i too have that gouge in my swingarm. :(

Mine does it too!

No stainless version available so i've ordered another stock one.

IMO 100NM is too much for the rear spindle and it bends the rubbish quality plate.

Curvey's are only tightened to 50NM (i think) so why would the pointy need to be twice as tight?
