SPECs Cameras on M25 Around A2 Junction
Can anyone confirm if SPECs are being used on the M25 around the roadworks they are doing at the A2 junction?
There are signs saying that average speed checks are taking place and I've spotted a blue mast with yellow video cameras on. Thing is, I've only clocked them at the end of the speed restricted area and not at the start. How are they monitoring the average speed if they're not picking you up at the start of the restriction (unless I'm just not seeing the first cameras). Also, I take it SPECs are looking at the front of vehicles so in other words I'm invisible...? Can anyone advise. Cheers, Tilly |
Yep, they are specs cameras. You probably missed them at the start but they are there. They have 4 sets of cameras. Two sets on the M25 and two sets on the A2.
They're right near where I live so I see them every day :( |
I have to use the Dartford Crossing everyday and enter/exit the M25 at junction 3 so I have to go through them everyday as well
However, I assume I'm not correct in my assumption that they are looking at the front of the bike and therefore unable to identify me should I have a lapse in concentration and slip above the 50 limit...? |
AFAIK they read from the back so theoretically you should be safe on the bike BUT having worked with the HA on a few motorway/dual carriageway projects, it can be used in conjunction with CCTV so you could then be liable for a NIP. I'm not too sure about the legalities of this but I will say that the speed limits imposed are there for the safety of the general road user and the staff working on the other side of the cones/jersey barriers. I have seen cars slam into those barriers at high speeds and they dont look pretty once they've stopped. Also had incidents where roadworks/public traffic had become "involved" and that too was not pretty.
Ride safe  |
What junction numbers is this on the M25?
