possible darkside ride

Ok, I have the opportunity to buy a second bike and I have been looking at a CBR600F. Quite like them and I do quite fancy having the choice of the Vtwin or the inline 4. The one Ive been looking at is a CBR600F Y 2000, last of the carbs as i understand it. Not bad mileage at 14,000 and in really good nick elsewhere.

The one thing that really concerns me is the difference in the frame at the weld just below the tank. Towards the handlebars its really shiny but afterweld towards the rear its buff as you would expect. My instinct tells me shiny frame means bent or welded stay well away, but I dont know if this is an actual OEM feature ?

Having looked on the internet to no avail for some close up images, are there any gurus on here re the CBR600F (hornet owners perhaps) who can help me out and tell me if its meant to be like that or if its an after market shine.

Thanks in advance

Rog

Have you tried the CBR forum? http://www.cbr-forum.org.uk/index2.php

its how they are i think, looking at my 1999 curvy it is the same, the top half of the frame is smooth and shiny and is welded to a rough, beaten looking alluminium

I think one bit's cast and one bit's extruded, if memory serves.

thanks for your replys guys. It appears that 2000/01 models have this trait so my thought is that it is not polished and therefore hiding something
