More sedate ride
Anyone else fancy the odd slightly more sedate ride? Not talking about pottering about like an old woman (appologies to any fast old women on the forum), but slightly less knee dragging and slightly more chances of survival. Each to their own, but looks like the rides on here focus on how many new scrapes you can get on your sliders and how much you can show others you can ride harder/faster than they can.
So if anyone fancies a more "inclusive" less "hardcore" but still "progressive" ride out some time, let me know and I'll sort something out. If however you are one of the hardcore knee draggers, then I'm not having a go at you at all, you carry on, just it's not for me but I thought perhaps others may fancy a bit of fun too without feeling inadequate or under pressure to keep up and so do something stupid. Cheers, Mark |

I've enjoyed every rideout, all of them organised through the forum, and I haven't had me knee down yet (well not without other bits).
If we can get more people on the rideouts then they just happily spread out with the faster ones stopping to let the slower ones catch up, if they don't catch up anyway for one reason or another. I don't think anyone here wouldn't want you on a rideout because of what you describe, or more importantly they wouldn't pressure you to keep up or do anything you didn't want to do. There has always been a great marker system so that no one gets left behind (i.e someone at the front stops to direct everyone else at a junction - then they can make their way to the front again if they want). So I really think you would enjoy any rideout. |
Come along to the next rideout if you can and you'll see that we don't all ride that, fair play to those who do but i personally don't. Don't feel \pressured to keep up, we wont leave you behind
The runs are normall well organised with most people knowing the route and normally have directions available as well So just get yourself along to a run and enjoy it |
I never had my knee down, on the rideouts I can go middle/upper middle of the pack fast or slower at back of the rideout depending on how I feel. Never been left behind. I check my mirrors every now and then to make sure I don't lose the person behind me and slow down if they can't keep up.
I ride alone at the speed limits normally. (paranoia saves my license) |
Were not all mad men, and were never trying to make anyone ride out of their capabilities. Knee down is just a bit of fun and who says its any more dangerous than banking over without ure knee down? You have exactly the same amount of contact with the road no matter how far lent over you are.
Yes i ride fast, only in nationals though (IAM), as i like to stick as close to 30, 40, 50's as i can without holding the group up. IMHO i think more dangerous riding comes from riders that overtake on junctions and speed in the congested area's. This is where you asking for trouble! Just come out for a ride and you'll see what its like.  |

Our rideouts are for riders of all skill levels and we don't ride about like total nutters (all the time). We always slow down to let the others catch up and it always works well. I see you're in Fleet so not too far from most of us. Post a suggested route/date/time and we'll join you! All the best, Dan |
